Barber RefClass A Barber
The objective of this course is to prepare for entry level skills in haircutting for men and women, shaving, shampooing, and chemical services. The course consists of 1500 hours in not less than 9 months.

Refresher Course
The objective of the Barber Refresher Course is to prepare the student to pass the TDLR examination. The following curriculum for this course consists of three hundred (300) hours, to be completed in not less than eight weeks:

  • Ten (10) hours of theory instruction in Texas barber laws. 10 hours
  • Two hundred ninety (290) hours of instruction in practical work:
  • Hair cutting 150 hours
  • Permanent waving and chemical applicants 75 hours
  • Styling, curling, and blow-drying 55 hours
  • Manicuring 10 hours

Barber Technician
The objective of the Barber Technician Course is to prepare the student to pass the TDLR examination. The following curriculum for this course consists of three hundred (300) hours, to be completed in not less than eight weeks:

  • Eight (8) hours of orientation
  • Thirty-seven (37) hours of instruction in theory:
  • Two hundred fifty-five (255) hours of instruction in practical work

Barber Instructor Course
The objective of the Barber Instructor Course is to prepare the student to pass the TDLR examination. The following curriculum for this course consists of one thousand (1,000) hours, in not less than 6 months, to include:

  • Eight (8) hours of orientation
  • One hundred twenty-five (125) hours of instruction in theory
  • Eight hundred sixty-seven (867) hours of instruction in practical work
